Programs & Services

Specific projects of the Council vary from year to year, dependent on the nature of emerging community issues and available funding sources. However, the following core programs and services remain stable from year to year:

  • Seniors Information & Resource Bureau (SIRB)
SIRB's purpose is to provide a central resource centre to assist seniors, their families, caregivers, and the community to access services, thus enabling seniors to maintain an independent life style.

  • The North Okanagan Falls Prevention Program
The goal of the program is to reduce falls and falls risks amongst seniors through peer-led home safety checks and education workshops.

  • Vernon and District Volunteer Bureau
The Volunteer Bureau connects Volunteers with non-profit Agencies and Organizations. We also provide occasional volunteer training, and assistance to agencies with their volunteer promotion and recognition activities.
  • Can We Help You? Directory of Community Services
The "Can We Help You?" directory is a guide to community services available in the North Okanagan. This guide is accessible free of charge online at www.canwehelpyou.ca
